Shokati Architects, Inc is a startup architecture firm based in Irvine with a diverse portfolio of commercial projects. Our work spans from core & shell developments to high-end tenant improvements, including quick-service restaurants, and other retail uses. We are passionate about design, technically sound documentation, and delivering value to our clients.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a Job Captain with a minimum of 2 years of experience in architectural documentation and coordination, specifically in retail and restaurant projects , including both core & shell and tenant improvement (TI) scopes. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technically proficient, and comfortable managing the development of construction documents and coordination with consultants and jurisdictions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the production of construction documents for a variety of retail and restaurant projects (shell and TI).
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, vendors, and jurisdictional agencies.
  • Review and integrate code compliance (ADA, building code, zoning) into design and documentation.
  • Assist in permitting, plan check responses, and construction administration tasks.
  • Manage and maintain project timelines and deliverables with support from Project Manager or Architect of Record.
  • Ensure documentation meets firm standards and client expectations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture.
  • Minimum 2 years of architectural experience with a focus on retail and restaurant projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or Revit is required; experience with Bluebeam, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of building systems, codes, and construction detailing.
  • Experience producing full sets of construction drawings for core & shell and TI projects.
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Licensure or path to licensure preferred but not required.

Preferred Experience:

  • Projects involving drive-thru restaurants , multi-tenant retail centers, or commercial renovations .
  • Working knowledge of entitlement processes and permitting with California jurisdictions.
