Description of Work Promotes an inclusive and safe environment and protects the welfare of students, faculty and staff as a security presence on campus and within the residence halls. Collaborates with diverse groups of students, faculty, and staff to identify issues and works to create solutions. Assists students with accessing and navigating university resources within housing and police departments. Performs foot and vehicle patrols of the Residence halls and surrounding areas to monitor behavior, secure buildings and property, report disturbances, maintain order during events and report University policy violations. Monitor the physical safety of residence halls by locking and unlocking doors, patrolling or monitoring using surveillance systems, and reporting suspicious behavior. Handle minor calls for assistance as assigned or until commissioned personnel are available. Provide security as necessary for university related special events.
Availability for work must be conducive to our responsibility for 24-hour coverage. This includes but is not limited to the ability to work overnight shifts, weekends, holidays, mandatory overtime, and special events. Shifts are primarily overnight, but certain events will call for some daytime hours. Compensation includes shift differential, when applicable.

Minimum Required Qualifications High School diploma or equivalency required. Valid Nebraska driver's license required. Must pass background investigation and medical exam.
Preferred Qualifications One year of security experience preferred. Demonstrated acceptable ability to operate relevant equipment including a desktop computer, a first aid kit, motorized conveyance, a hand-held portable radio, and screening devices. Ability to comprehend and accurately apply policies and laws.
