Atlanta Police Department (APD) Field Operations Division

General Description and Classification Standards

Responsible for responding to non-emergency 911 calls for service for the Atlanta Police Department as a non-sworn member. Team members will complete accident reports, document incident reports, collect evidence, and process theft crimes to provide timely responses to citizens.

Responsibilities

These are typical responsibilities and may not be all-inclusive. Duties include:

• Responding to non-injury accidents, including hit-and-run, and completing reports.
• Responding to roadway obstructions and clearing debris.
• Directing traffic around accidents and non-emergency scenes.
• Gathering information and processing vehicles involved in theft from motor vehicle calls.
• Performing other assigned duties outside emergency response.
• Recording all interactions with citizens on body-worn cameras.
• Working within a para-military command structure under supervision.
• Providing excellent customer service to citizens and visitors.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Safe operation of motor vehicles in city traffic, accurate report creation, and information gathering.
• Proficiency with computers and software like Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook.
• Willingness to learn new software platforms.

Minimum Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Outstanding communication skills.
• At least 18 years old at hire.
• Valid Georgia Drivers License with no more than 5 violations in 3 years, and no DUI or related convictions in last 3 years.
• No felony convictions; limited misdemeanor convictions.
• No disqualifying federal or serious criminal convictions.
• Ability to pass medical, background, criminal, credit, psychological, and drug tests.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelors or Associate degree or equivalent experience.
• Experience with computer software.
• Law enforcement, military, or ROTC background encouraged.
• Positive, collaborative attitude with integrity and professionalism.
